Biography: |
| Margaret Smith's watercolour paintings display her passion for colour and her love of flowers, landscape and nature. The beautiful and vibrant paintings of Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven artists inspired her with their colour. The English masters of transparent watercolour influenced her choice of pursuing this luminous medium to portray her intense interest for flowers, gardens and landscapes.
The goal of Margaret's work is to draw the viewer into the painting to observe the beauty of creation all around us and to enjoy the little things so often missed in the hustle of daily life.
Margaret was born and raised in Vancouver, B. C. and took an interest in art at an early age. Although a formal education in art was not to be, her creative and artistic interests were kept alive with fabric art, gardening and crafts. After raising three children as a full time mother, more time finally presented itself for her to pursue her love of colour through painting in watercolour. In 1994 she began a continuing series of classes and workshops to discover the intricacies of watercolour and improve her painting. She has studied with several watercolour instructors, including: Tom Lynch, Linda Muttitt, Janice Robertson and Jack Reid. |
